Plan for Friday

So this Friday I get do to something I have been wanting to do since late last summer, run home from work. I started biking to work once or twice a week near the end of last year, and always thought it would make for an interesting run. So to allow for a more relaxed weekend, I figured this Friday would be the day.

Here is a link to the Motion Based up load from one of my bike trips home last year. Should be fun to run across the city.

I am looking forward to the re-fuelling when I get home.

Holy carp man... that's 19.41 miles aka 31.23 kms! That's a LONG way hunny bun. Let me know what you want waiting for you when you walk in the door and it's YOURS! I'm thrilled that you'll have the chance to finally DO it.

Actually I have to run 34km this weekend so I may be taking a slightly longer route home, or finish with a couple of km on the grass.

The usual, Pizza and Guinness, and with all luck the pool won't be green and I can stick my legs it in.

Hey you could always bike down Watts Creek and keep me company me for the last 6.5km, I should be there around 6:15.

I'll definitely bike down Watts Creek to meet you! That is a great idea. Okay, pizza will be ordered and waiting for you. Do we have Guiness or will I be picking that up? :)
Sara - HI! Hope you're doing well. Hugs to you and Derrick.

How did it go?

Tough run home. Total distance was only 30.70km run in 2:44 for a 5:21 pace. Route was great and easy but the heat out yesterday was the factor. I was pacing pretty good until about 23km and then the wheels were slowly falling off. Needed about 1.5 litres more water. Lesson learnt.
Changed into the FF's to finish off the 34 and only got 2.2km - I was done.
Sore this morning, we'll see how todays run goes.

Oh and I'll definitely do it again, just wait for cooler weather. Late afternoon heat is murder to run distance in.

That's great you did it despite the hot conditions. It did get so hot out, tough you didn't have more water. Were the pizza & beer good once you recovered a bit? Hope you guys have a nice weekend.

The pizza and beer were good around 9:00pm. Water till then - so thirsty. Cool thing - we saw a small turtle laying her eggs beside the path. Really neat.
Painful/restless sleep last night, but got out for a solid hour this morning, feeling not too bad.
The heat is definitely upon us. Makes me long for Yellowknife, just a bit :)

Yes, the cool weather of YK is much nicer than this heat. Blech!

Great run though. Nice to get it in. Just need a few more warm days and it will all seem better. Tough getting used to it, especially since it sounded like you had to deal with some pavement.
